Iron & Hydrogen Sulfide Filter Stop the staining of your sink, shower, tub, toilet, and tile caused by Iron in your water! Springsoft can remove the iron from your water supply with an oxidizing filter. We use a media that will convert the ferris iron (not visible) to the ferris iron (visible). The media is capable of holding a charge of oxygen and recieving a replacement charge as it is consumed in its converting cycle. The system is fully automatic, except for the replacement of Potassium Permagnate in the feeder tank. This system will also remove most of the 'rotten egg' odor known as Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in your water. The IFA filter is designed to remove Iron and Hydrogen Sulfide when properly sized. The media within the mineral tank is charged with oxygen. The oxygen then oxidizes the iron in the water as it runs in a downward flow through the media. Oxygen turns the ferris iron to ferric so it can be filtered. When the oxygen within the media is consumed, it is replenished by induction of Potassium Permanganate. This is acomplished by an automatic control on the media tank. The system is maintenance free with the exception of adding Potassium Permanganate to the small chemical tank and periodic cleaning of the injector. Potassium Permanganate is consumed at the rate of 2 to 4 ounces each regeneration depending upon the IFA model. Manganese Greensand will lose its recovery efficiency when not regenerated with Potassium Permanganate and backwashed at the proper flow rate. All parts made proudly in the U.S.A.
